Les pompiers

Did you know that Paris firefighters are part of
a French army unit?  And that the Paris fire dept.
is the 3rd largest urban fire service in the world?
When I lived here back when, my only contact
with the pompiers took place each year on the
eve of Bastille Day, when fire stations all
over the city hosted dances—and the firemen
were a good-looking crew back then too!

[Today is ABC Wednesday. To see more

  3. how did you ever leave? i guess it was all the other amazing places to see...

  4. What an appropriate name for firefighters, - and I would guess that beauty is in the eye of the beholder!!

  5. They are good looking indeed! And fascinating to think they have army links there. Great post for P.

  6. I did NOT know the fire dept was part of the military. Thanks for the info.

  8. It must have been so fun to live in Paris. Coincidentally I watched a group of Paris firefighters doing drills on Pont Neuf and on the quai bellow right after I took tomorrow's Weekend Reflection photo.
