Have learned to like the inside-out Pompidou, but don't get me started about the hideous Tour Montparnasse (I cried the first time I saw it). However, I've always loved Pei's pyramids—how about you? [Linking back to Weekend Reflections.] |

aux puces
![]() |
I could spend days at the Marché aux Puces, even if I were just looking—though buying (and haggling over the price) is more fun. I was tempted by this pretty silver pot the last time I was there. [To see more Weekend Reflections, visit James's meme.] |

the Louvre at night

I can't imagine why none of these people are gazing at the view right in front of them—the pyramid all lit up here in the courtyard of the Musée du Louvre. |

Bonne Année!

A glass of rosé—enjoyed in Paris last year—to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! [To see more Weekend Reflections, visit James's meme.] |

Parc des Buttes Chaumont
This 61-acre, entirely-made-by-hand park was opened in 1867. Although I was living in Paris 100 years later, I never set foot here until last September. Whatever you want to say about Baron Haussmann, I have to give him credit for looking at an ugly, smelly, barren hill on the outskirts of the city and having the vision to see it turned into one of the loveliest spots in all of Paris. {And Happy May Day! If we were in Paris, I'd offer you a brin de muguet.} [Linking back to Weekend Reflections and to The Weekend in Black and White.] |

ET times two
| I know this looks rather romantic on the surface, but when I took this shot last November it was so cold I could barely snap the shutter. There are also rats living in the Champ de Mars and they're not exactly shy late at night. But, hey—who wouldn't put up with a few rodents and some frozen fingers for this?
