May Day au musée

There are thousands of beautiful
things in the Louvre—not
just paintings and sculpture, jewelry,
furniture, and objets d'art, but 
also the building itself.  This gate is one 
of my all-time favorite elements.
Wishing a Happy May Day to all and to my 
French friends, je vous offre un petit
brin de muguet.

I can't imagine why none of these people
are gazing at the view right in front
of them—the pyramid all lit up here in the
courtyard of the Musée du Louvre.

These pretty red currants were for sale
last summer at the weekly bio
(organic) market—held each Sunday
on the Boulevard Raspail.

La Gardienne

I don't know the story behind the lady who's
guarding this doorway in the 12th arrondissement
(if there even is one), but she has a nice face . . .  

and she's found a good way to guard
herself from the ever-present pigeons
(seems to be working pretty well).
