I appreciate that these sumptuous carpets and gorgeous painted dressers are still here for us to admire. The chairs aren't too shabby, either. [Linking back to Shadow Shot Sunday.] |

May Day au musée
![]() |
There are thousands of beautiful things in the Louvre—not just paintings and sculpture, jewelry, furniture, and objets d'art, but also the building itself. This gate is one of my all-time favorite elements. Wishing a Happy May Day to all and to my French friends, je vous offre un petit brin de muguet. Saint-Antoine-des-Quinze-Vingts
This is very much a "local" church, catering to its parishioners in the 12th arrondissement. However, it does have two beautiful organs; the main one, built by Cavaillé-Coll, is considered one of the best examples of symphonic organs in Paris—and some powerful music has been recorded in this church. Dans la Cathédrale Notre Dame
I love this church, but not so much when it's filled to overflowing with visitors. The best time to really see it, to appreciate the sheer size—and the silence—is when the doors are first opened, at 8 a.m. [Am linking back to The Weekend in Black and White, Shadow Shot Sunday, inSPIREd Sunday and Dreaming of France.] |

Jardin du Palais Royal
This was an early-spring day in the garden of the Palais Royal, and the pleached lime trees were already leafing out. The building just visible at the end of the allée is where Colette once lived. [It's Shadow Shot Sunday. To see more, go here. And of course, I'm Dreaming of France.] |
